Exciting New Updates

Dear Parents and Students,

What a great twenty-fifth anniversary year as the Lord blessed in so many ways. The Lord has certainly blessed our twenty-fifth anniversary year at LBS and given us an outstanding student body, faculty, and staff! Parents, thank you for your labor of love and sacrifice as you raise your children for the Lord in this local church and Christian school.

We are privileged to provide Christian education with the presence of a clear, Christ-centered philosophy and the absence of humanism and a pluralistic philosophy. The spiritual atmosphere of the school continues to provide strong, biblical foundation, with oversight from our Pastor and administrative team.

We have been moving full steam ahead in preparation for the new school year. The theme for this coming school year will be “Practice His Presence” from Psalm 16:11. Our new textbook order has already been processed and final touches are being made to the secondary class schedule.

At Lancaster Baptist School we will continue to provide a foundational education at the elementary level, and quality preparation for a general diploma program or college-prep diploma in our high school.

We are continuing to build excellence into the academics of our secondary program by combining the core material with quality electives as well as developing the AP program. In addition to Advanced Placement (AP) US History with Deb Demirjian, we will be adding two more Advanced Placement courses:

  • Advanced Placement (AP) Calculus AB—Larry Cox
  • Advanced Placement (AP) English Composition—Jill Kobernat

Along with the AP classes, we are excited about our LBS elective classes for the new school year:

  • Elective classes for junior high—art class, intro to Spanish, study skills, and math helps.
  • Elective classes for senior high—computer applications (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), auto/bus mechanics, mechanical drawing, Bible Quiz Team, and sight-singing—to name a few.

God has blessed our school with many of our teachers serving more than ten years and some more than twenty years at LBS. This longevity is a strength of our school, but we are excited to introduce some new teachers we are adding to our faculty:

Miss Sarah Anderson will be teaching Science 7, Science 8, Physical Science 9, Biology 10, and Chemistry. Miss Anderson has a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master’s in Christian Education. She has thirteen years’ experience in the secondary classroom. Miss Anderson will be teaching several classes previously taught by Ken Jones. He will be teaching part-time and working in the area of church visitation in the afternoons.

Mr. Colton Cochran will be the assistant athletic director under Jon Sisson along with teaching eighth grade history and PE. He is a recent graduate of West Coast Baptist College with a degree in Religious Education, History, and Physical Education. Colton was a NCCAA all-team athlete and has a passion to teach.

Miss Kylie Suttle is our new girls’ volleyball coach. She will also be teaching Intro to Spanish in the junior high and Spanish I for tenth graders. She holds a degree in English Education and a Minor in Spanish. We have the opportunity to have three exceptionally qualified instructors teaching our three Advanced Placement (college level) classes this year:

Mr. Larry Cox will be teaching the AP Calculus class. He has his Bachelors and Master’s degree in nuclear engineering.

Miss Jill Kobernat will be teaching the AP English class. She has a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s Degree in Christian Education. She is also TESOL certified.

Mrs. Deb Demirjian will once again be teaching the AP US History class. Mrs. Demirjian has her Bachelor of Science degree in education, a Master’s degree in Education, and a Master of American History and Government.

Lancaster Baptist continues to provide one of the most outstanding music programs in the country along with CIF sports program. All of these classes and programs received WASC accreditation and continues to receive strong remarks from our outside reviewers.

We are excited about the new school year. Please be in prayer with us as we prepare and plan for a great year in Christian school education. As always, if you have any questions or specific needs, please feel free to call at any time. Partnering with you in light of eternity,

James B. Lee
