Great Americans Program

The LBS Great American’s program kicked off our Thanksgiving break last week in honor of the Thanksgiving celebration. This special patriotic event began with the LBHS Color Guard marching in and presenting the colors, followed by the pledge of allegiance and the singing our national anthem by Rachel Proctor. The LBHS Strings then played Shenandoah and the newly formed LBHS Orchestra then performed Amazing Grace and Orchestral Fanfare, both groups were under the direction of Roberto Palencia.

The Elementary choir, under the direction of Miss Alisa Rasmussen, then entered the auditorium and sang Thanksgiving Every Day, We Praise You, O God, and The Spirit of America. A skit was also presented which followed the fictional Thatcher family as they discovered what Thanksgiving is really all about. In the end, the family learned that Thanksgiving should be every day in our hearts, homes, and nation!

Students begin preparing for this special event months prior, by researching a great American figure and then presenting aspects of their lives in class. During the program the students also looked great as they dressed as their patriotic American figures. After the program, a pie reception was held for all in the Student Life Center. We thank the Lord for saving us and allowing us to be a part of such an amazing church, school, and country. May we always remember who and what have made us a blessed nation and pass on this godly heritage, with daily thanksgiving, to the next generation.

Psalm 33:12a “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.”
